Truncation effect on estimation of transport parameters for slug-injection tracer tests

چکیده

For slug-injection tracer tests, concentrations below the detection limit of measurement instrument can cause truncation observed data. This study investigated effect on estimation error parameters based analytical solutions and results laboratory-scale experiments. Spatial moment analysis was performed to estimate measured total mass transport parameters, including pore velocity longitudinal transverse dispersivities. Increasing travel distance caused dispersivities be underestimated regardless dimensionality because hydrodynamic dispersion occurs with increasing distance, which smoothens concentration front. The one- two-dimensional cases showed that dispersivity depended dimensionality. In contrast, no such dependence; center did not change as unmeasured portion due increased plume, exhibited a Gaussian distribution, truncated symmetrically. experiment, likewise limit, but there were large differences in at dimensionless parameter reached value zero between experimental solution. is initial plume experiment finite size. Thus, design factors scale, device, should considered minimize excluding velocity.

An Analytical Solution for Slug-Tracer Tests in Fractured Reservoirs

The transport of chemicals or heat in fractured reservoirs is strongly affected by the fracture-matrix interfacial area. In a vapor-dominated geothermal reservoir, this area can be estimated by inert gas tracer tests, where gas diffusion between the fracture and matrix causes the tracer breakthrough curve (BTC) to have a long tail determined by the interfacial area. For water-saturated conditio...

Estimation of zeolite application effect on solute transport parameters at different soils using HYDRUS-1D model

ABSTRACT-Application of models for simulation of solute and pollutants transport in soil can reduce time and costs for remediation process. HYDRUS-1D model was developed to simulate the one–dimensional flow of soil water, heat, solute and viruses in variably saturated–unsaturated porous media. The objective of this investigation is to determine the solute transport parameters in disturbed soil ...

Bayes Interval Estimation on the Parameters of the Weibull Distribution for Complete and Censored Tests

A method for constructing confidence intervals on parameters of a continuous probability distribution is developed in this paper. The objective is to present a model for an uncertainty represented by parameters of a probability density function.  As an application, confidence intervals for the two parameters of the Weibull distribution along with their joint confidence interval are derived. The...

Accounting for the effect of transport errors on tracer inversions

[1] Errors in atmospheric transport of tracers lead to errors in estimates of tracer fluxes based upon concentration observations. Typically, such ‘‘inverse’’ methods either neglect transport errors or only assess their effects roughly. We describe a method to quantitatively account for transport errors by incorporating uncertainties in winds into stochastic motions of air parcels. The magnitud...
